Horicon announces downtown façade and building improvement grant program

HORICON, WIS. – The City of Horicon has announced a new local resource to help support improvements
planned to downtown buildings.

The program offers Façade Grants for exterior improvements that improve the overall appearance of an existing building, as well as Building Improvement Grants to help fund structural and interior improvements of a permanent/fixed nature.

These are matching grants: The Facade matching grants match up to 25% of total project costs, with a maximum award of $5,000 per eligible building face. Maximum total award of $10,000. Building Improvement Grants match up to 25% of total project costs, with a maximum award of $20,000.

Any property owner or long-term tenant of an existing property or building located within
or immediately abutting the boundaries of Tax Increment District No. 6 (TID #6) is eligible to apply.

City staff will review applications and award grants based on documentation provided, the project’s merits, and how well they meet eligibility requirements. Any awarded funds are subject to a signed grant agreement within 6 months of approval and project performance requirements within 12 months, among other requirements.
