The former Shopko located within the targeted area is slated to become part of a new mixed use development. Demolition of the structure is the first stage of the project to be redeveloped with downtown density.
The plan developed with the help of Vandewalle & Associates recommends breaking up the big (vacant) Shopko site into several new residential buildings, new mixed use buildings, and a new transit hub (with the potential for the new transit hub to be a mixed use building). The plan would also add new interior streets, pocket park, and bike/ped facilities.
