Veridian proposes 600 west-side apartments and homes and park expansion

VERONA, WIS. (with excerpts from madison.com) – Veridian Homes has been working with Vandewalle & Associates to plan a project on the Far West Side that calls for building a mix of 600 homes and apartment units and adding 40 acres to Elver Park.

The Veridian Homes development would convert a swath of farmland along MidTown Road into 244 single-family housing units and twin homes, some single family homes, commercial space, and 363 multifamily units. Plans call for nearly 25 acres of stormwater control.

Ald. John Duncan commended Veridian’s track record of mixed-use developments and what the proposal offers for Elver Park.

“Some remaining farmland in District 1 will be needed for residential development and some should be preserved in the long run,” Duncan said. “I am also encouraged by the expansion of Elver Park as part of this project, which will provide access to additional green space in this neighborhood.
