On August 7, principal Brian Munson of Vandewalle & Associates led a neighborhood tour on behalf of Dane County for the Model Ordinance project. The tour visited one of Veridian Homes’ largest traditional neighborhoods: Grandview Commons.
Located on Madison’s far east side, Grandview Commons is an example of a highly successful neighborhood that is both mixed-use and walkable. That means it incorporates key traditional neighborhood principles, including a full mix of housing types, such as single-family, condos, and apartments. It also places daily needs, shops, businesses, restaurants, and greenspaces within easy walking distance of the majority of residents in this multi-phase neighborhood. The neighborhood is currently at 85% build-out, with ongoing new home construction.
