Elias Vereldziz, Assistant Planner

Elias Vareldzis is an Assistant Planner with Vandewalle & Associates, working to provide research, analysis, and other project assistance to a variety of community planning projects stemming from the Milwaukeeoffice team

Environmental issues are an area of keen interest for Elias. Prior to joining the company, Elias worked as Assistant Planner and Floodplain Manager for the City of Glendale, Wisconsin. There he gained valuable experience in planning and design review, preparing reports, and providing subject area expertise and recommendations to key stakeholders. He also helped assist residents and developers to navigate local, state, and federal floodplain regulations in ways that both ensured safety from flood damage while minimizing environmental impacts.

Elias is eager to work as part of the multidisciplinary teams at Vandewalle & Associates, which he feels is the best possible environment for immersive exposure to a today’s most dynamic planning issues and projects. He is driven to work on sustainable systems and environmental mitigation, as well as equity issues, urban planning and policy solutions, bike and ped planning, and local and regional economic development.

His experience with analysis, coordinating and implementing federal grant and regulatory programs, enforcing zoning codes, land use planning, site selection, and working with public and private sector partners are skills he’s ready to put to work on his first projects with Vandewalle including Cedar Valley Waterloo; Hancock County Regional Planning; Williams Bay Comprehensive Plan Rewrite; Middleton Zoning Code Rewrite; and Wrightstown, Wisconsin.
