Alliant to close Sheboygan coal plant, retain Vandewalle

SHEBOYGAN, WISC (excerpts from wsjonline.com) – Alliant Energy has announced it is closing its Sheboygan coal-fired power plant, which is the last of its kind operating in Sheboygan. The Edgewater 5 generating station will be completely decommissioned by 2023. While that date is years ahead of the previous schedule for the plant, City officials say it will save taxpayers hundreds of millions in taxpayer costs.
