
The Vandewalle & Associates’ team is delighted to welcome Elias Vareldzis as Assistant Planner. Elias is a recent graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Masters of Urban Planning program, and has experience working as Assistant Planner and Floodplain Manager for the City of Glendale, Wisconsin. At V&A he will be working to provide research, analysis, and other project assistance to a variety of community planning projects stemming from the Milwaukee–office team.
Elias is eager to work as part of the multidisciplinary teams at Vandewalle & Associates, which he feels is the best possible environment for immersive exposure to a today’s most dynamic planning issues and projects. He is driven to work on sustainable systems and environmental mitigation, as well as equity issues, urban planning and policy solutions, bike and ped planning, and local and regional economic development.
Zoning, urban planning, and environmental issues are one of many areas of high interest for Elias. Prior to joining the company, Elias helped assist residents and developers to navigate local, state, and federal floodplain regulations in ways that both ensured safety from flood damage while minimizing environmental impacts.
Elias is already jumping right into projects in Cedar Valley and Waterloo, Iowa; Hancock County Indiana; Williams Bay; Middleton; and Wrightstown, Wisconsin.
