JEFFERSON, WISC. A groundbreaking ceremony was held at the former Foremost site on the Rock River on Wednesday, July 24. This event kicked off a series of projects downtown and on the riverfront that are teed up to advance over the next two years – including housing, a riverfront park, and commercial developments. This Gorman development will become the Riverside Lofts (formerly under the name Candise Street Lofts), a $10 million project scheduled for completion by next July which will include 36 units with affordable one, two- and three-bedroom options.
A riverwalk also will be created along the Riverside Lofts project, linking a walking and bicycle path to the downtown to help spur revitalization.
V&A has played a strong role in the vision and ongoing implementation of these projects – including helping the City write and secure funding from two pivotal grants written by Meredith Perks; here Jolena Presti (second from left) is shown lending two hands with the groundbreaking.
