RACINE, WI: The 2018 Root River Festival is a free, family event based on the old-fashioned Chautauqua experience. The festival runs from 12 to 5 p.m. Sunday August 26 at Lincoln Park, 2200 Domanik Drive, and includes live music, storytelling, children’s activities, environmental education, a 5k run, food trucks, a biergarten and opportunities for canoeing and kayaking on the historic Root River. A special feature is actor Roger Kuhns who will portray Jens Jensen, a pioneering landscape architect who was a leader in the environmental movement and designed Racine’s public park system in the early 1900s. The festival is presented by the Root River Council and local sponsors. Visit www.rootrivercouncil.org
