
MADISON, Wis. – Livability.com named Madison as the No. 1 surprisingly bike-friendly city in the United States. According to Livability, big cities like Portland often get the most attention when it comes to cycling. Despite having annual snowfall averages topping 40 inches, locals still enjoy biking in the Madison. Madison has more than 240 miles of bikeways.
Livability said next to Portland, Madison holds second place for large cities with the highest percentage of those biking to work with 5.1 percent of Madisonians getting to work via bike. Other cities on the list included Tucson, Fort Collins, Ann Arbor and Wausau, Wisconsin at No. 8.
