InVision Architects is working on the transformation of Tech2–a historic, former John Deere building–into a business-class hotel. The hotel’s architecture will preserve the building’s brick exterior, tall industrial windows, and interior concrete columns to create a one-of-a-kind, open hotel space.
The design turns some of the challenges of historic preservation and repurposing into unique features–with things like a raised floor, preserved five-1/2 foot window openings looking out to panoramic river and downtown views, and two-story pool. The final building will also house restaurant, conference, and training space, and will be an important step in the downtown revitalization efforts. (Image from InVision Architects)
