Machinery Row receives funding, purchase of properties moves ahead

RACINE JOURNAL TIMES: Having secured $9 million in historic tax credits, the developers for Racine’s 20-acre Machinery Row redevelopment can now forge ahead with their $65 million riverfront redevelopment plan which will be the largest in Racine’s history. On Dec. 31, developer Financial District Properties closed on the purchase of the larger of two buildings in the Machinery Row project, along with Azarian Marina. The third building is expected to close in the week to follow. The developer intends to start developing the larger of the two former Case buildings first, the three-story, 500,000-square-foot structure the developer now owns. The current plan calls for creating 160 to 180 market-rate apartments and commercial space in the building. Read more about the project and progress in the Journal Times.
