Capitol East District redevelopment site proposed for new performance space and collaborative start-up space

CAPITOL EAST DISTRICT, MADISON WI. Gebhardt Development’s 140,000-square-foot mixed use project that is proposed for the 800 South Block of East Washington Avenue would not only include a major new performance space for the city, it would also provide a central site for StartingBlock Madison — a collaborative space for start-up companies and tech initiatives. In this scenario Sector 67, the Madison-area makerspace, would also relocate here, along with additional professional offices and retail spaces. Meanwhile, Gebhardt Development and Festival Foods recently broke ground on a $90 million redevelopment project just across the street on the north side of 800 East Washington, also in the Capitol East District. The project will include apartments, commercial space, a grocery store and underground parking.
