North Carolina Veterans Park moves into year 3 with great momentum

This July 4 marks the three-year anniversary of the  North Carolina Veterans Park’s Grand Opening, with over 300,000 visitors to date and counting. Vandewalle & Associates was instrumental in the concept development of this  “contemporary, unique, and bold”  park, located in Fayetteville (home to Fort Bragg and Pope Army Airfield). Unlike traditional veterans memorials, the award-winning North Carolina Veterans Park was designed to honor and celebrate the lives of soldiers, reflect on their paths from home to service, and welcome them home again.  With the success of Phase 1 of Park construction and operation, many of the additional redevelopment projects from the Master Plan will soon be underway. The residential development planned for across Bragg Blvd is about 50% complete. Other upcoming projects include a new bridge planned for construction in the next year, Phase 2 of the Veterans Park which will more than double the Park’s current size, and a potential large mixed use development on the other side of the new bridge. You can read more about the Park in this article from Landscape Architect and Specifier News, or view an image gallery here.
