
Officials from Waterloo made a pitch for TechWorks to a state panel that controls $100 million aimed at propping up big-ticket redevelopment projects for Iowa cities.
Waterloo’s presentation — along with ones from Muscatine and Des Moines — were part of a monthslong gauntlet each of the applicants have to run to capture a portion of the money in the form a sales and hotel/motel tax rebate.
Ten municipalities applied for funding, but only three made it to Thursday’s round. A decision is scheduled for June 20.
