Racine Uptown Public Meeting Held

Racine public officials and representatives of Vandewalle & Associates hosted a public meeting Thursday Jan 23 to gather input and discuss ides for future revitalization of the Uptown area. Residents and business owners discussed a number of ideas and needs, including adding public gathering spaces, providing incentives for property owners to invest in and keep up their property, and adding a quality grocery store. In an article covering the event by The Journal Times, City Administrator Thomas Friedel is quoted opening the meeting with a description of a postcard from 1932 he found that called Uptown ‘The Heart of Racine’: “In 1932, this is where everything was happening,” he said. “We’d like to get back to that and again make this the heart of Racine.” (Photo by Gregory Shaver, the Journal Times.)RacineUptown Public InputPublic Input Session19
