The Madison Plan Commission, Urban Design Commission, and Council gave unanimous approval for the “The Hub at Madison” — a nearly 50,000 square foot housing and retail structure proposed for the corner of State and Frances streets. Teams of architects and planners have worked to address concerns that the tall structure would not fit with State Street’s existing architecture, and have now presented a new design with a stepped-back facade that adds variation and breaks up the structures to look like a cluster of smaller buildings. The proposed building would include retail spaces along State Street and a 12-story step-back with high-end apartment housing.
