On July 2, 2012, the City of Racine Common Council unanimously approved RootWorks, an economic vision and plan for redevelopment along the highly urbanized areas of the Root River. This area of the downtown was the original economic heart of the City, and the birthplace of a number of powerful Midwestern manufacturing companies.The new vision for the riverfront brings the area’s economic focus back to its roots.
