The grand opening of the vibrant new RiverLoop Amphitheater in Waterloo, IA takes place–along with the RiverLoop Arts Festival–on June 29, June 30 & July 1, 2012. The new Amphitheater is one of many transformative projects in the central business district of Waterloo in which V&A has played a major role. V&A first designed this dynamic public space in 2000, with the goal of bringing area residents, tourists, and energy to a formerly industry- and levy-dominated riverfront. V&A continued to refine the inventive design in 2006, which connects to the RiverLoop riverwalk and other key spaces, creating a new downtown axis and gathering destination. V&A handed off the design to local landscape architects after the project was funded, who finished the design and implemented the project. Now the City is proud to invite the public to gather and use it for the first time at the colorful RiverLoop Arts Festival–the first of many events planned for the space.
